Cooking Camp – Building Meals from Scratch

July 15 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
This camp teaches students how to cook real meals by starting with one simple base and building from there. Throughout the week, students learn how to make a basic sofrito and use it across multiple dishes, including rice bowls, eggs, sheet pan meals, soups, and rice and beans. Each session focuses on practical skills like knife safety, heat control, and how to sauté and build flavor without overcomplicating the process. The structure of the week is intentional, with skills repeating and building so students gain confidence instead of starting from scratch each day. Students work in pairs and spend most of their time cooking, adjusting, and learning through repetition. By the end of the week, they will understand how to create simple meals on their own and rely less on strict recipes.
